An agreement that creates or provides for a security interest (SA-Bankruptcy.com)

An agreement between a lender and a debtor providing for something to be given or pledged to a person who is lending money in order to secure or guarantee payment of the debt (Ontario Bankruptcy Dictionary)

A verbal or written agreement between a secured party and a debtor giving the secured party a security interest in personal property; a written agreement is not necessary if the secured party is in possession of the collateral. (Dictionary of Canadian Bankruptcy Terms)

Under Title 11 U.S.C. Section 101:
(50) The term "security agreement" means agreement that creates or provides for a security interest.
